Rose Garden

This is beautiful. I love roses and often think about the wonderful large rosebeds we had when I was a child.

Auschwitz

While travel is fun, there are also times when tourists need to be more serious and to remember. I have never been to Auschwitz but did visit a concentration camp in Germany. While most or all of the structures had been torn down, there was still documentary and photographic evidence of the atrocities committed. The photos were more than enough to persuade me not to go see the films they had.

I also want to say that while I am aware of some of the groups of people were victims: Jews, GLBT people, people with physical impairments and gypsies, and while I know who most of the perpetrators were - German Nazis - the awful crimes that were committed were committed by human beings against other human beings. These kinds of things have happened many times in history in different places and continue to happen around the world. The evil is the same; the victims are sometimes different. We are all human and we are all capable of such terrible acts. Let us never forget that.

Mombasa

While this video reminds me of a lot of African cities, it also shows stark contrast with many African cities in terms of the architecture and the feel. I am immediately struck by the Arab influence and how different it is from so many west African cities. I am curious about how similar or different it is to other east African cities and perhaps one day I will find out.

The Canadian Badlands

This is not a sequel to "Lord of the Rings"; it is an area in Alberta, Canada, and is known, among other things, for its large concentration of dinosaur bones. In fact, there is a Dinosaur Park you can visit. If you do visit the park, please refrain from asking to see Steven Spielberg or Sam Neill. Rumour - the one I have just started - has it that park rangers plant tourists who ask these questions so that they too can be attractions for the next group of visitors. Also, please remember that the huge bird buried in the ground is not a giant chicken that is currently being served at a fast food place near you.

Salar de Uyuni

Some people travel around the world by plane, some by ship and some by longboard. Watch these people longboarding and generally having fun on Salar De Uyuni, the largest salt pan in the world. Of course, not everyone is a keen longboarder. So, if you are like me, take a nice salad with.

Miami's Sexy South Beach Travel Guide and Trips

Okay, so please explain to me why, if the word "sexy" is in the title of the video, the camera kept panning away when it got close to me? Perhaps I was just too photogenic or perhaps it's because I have never been to Miami.

Toss in a Coin and Come Back

They say if you toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain in Rome that you will come back to Rome. Well, I never tossed in a coin and I haven't been back, so maybe the story is true. HA HA.

New Orleans

I have wanted to visit New Orleans since I was small. I am not sure to be honest but we're all drawn inexplicably to certain places or things in life. Unfortunately, New Orleans was hit by Hurricane Katrina several years ago and the devastation was immense. I am not certain if it has been rebuilt or if it now looks as good as it once did in some of the pictures I had seen. Perhaps one day I will get the chance to visit there. In the meantime, have a look at this video about the city.
