Waikiki Beach in Hawaii

The water looks really beautiful and the whole scene is really inviting.

Easter Island

There is something about this island that makes you want to visit there. Part of it is the pull of the famous, mysterious heads or moai and part of it is its extreme isolation, making it almost a destination one can boast about having seen, a destination most people in the world will never get to go to. Unfortunately, the costs of flights to the island are forboding.

Introduction to the Philippines

The Philippines is quite a different experience from many countries, possibly because of its sometimes tumultuous history, perhaps  because of the extreme poverty that exists, perhaps because it is part of Asia but separate from it, perhaps because it is surrounded by ocean and is made up of thousands of islands. Something makes this country feel different from most.

Windoek, The Little City

Three days is probably more than enough time to see everything in Windhoek. Let's put it this way: if you get stuck in traffic, it will take you fifteen minutes to get from one end of the city to the other. Don't miss the botanical garden - it is not huge and it is not what one would normally expect but it is pleasant enough for a short excursion.

Scenes from Dubai

Dubai is an unusual city, a fishing village that became something conventional wisdom said it could not. It is also a city of contrasts, with the extremely rich and the ultra poor.

Red Square In A Way You Normally Do Not See It

It would be nice to visit Russia one day. It is a pity they have so much corruption and a deteriorating human rights situation.

Siam Niramit

I went to this show. I think it was probably spectacular. Unfortunately, I was so sick that I slept through almost the entire performance. The one thing that made a lot of the visitors angry was that they were expected to stand to honour the Thai king (kind of like bowing before him).

Rio De Janeiro

I like Rio. It has a nice feel to it. It certainly has a beach culture to an extent but that is not all there is to it. Be warned: it is the most crime ridden place I have been to in the world. Seriously, make sure you know what you are doing and how to spot criminals. Make sure you know which areas to stay out of - there are lots of them. Still, I liked Rio. I think I liked the feel. If you want to do shopping, then rather head to Sao Paulo. Unfortunately, a really large number of people we encountered in Sao Paulo were the most appalling selfish, rude, inconsiderate human beings we have had the misfortune to encounter anywhere in the world. I would like to say we just had some bad luck but we went to a lot of places where a lot of Sao Paulo residents were in their masses. I eventually started referring to the locals as Sao Porquistas. We really did find very few nice people in Sao Paulo.

La Chascona (I don't mean me when I wake up in the morning)

Pablo Neruda was both an interesting and an obnoxious character. He certainly had a sense of humour and I really enjoyed walking around one of his homes in Santiago, Chile. Santiago is a really nice city to visit. I wish I could be back there rght now, seeing the Andes from so many places, being in a city that is often well run and having really nice milkshakes at this one place near Metro Los Leones.

The Pyramids of Giza

A short montage with some nice music. Did you know that there is a scientific explanation for the so-called Curse of the Pharaohs?
