Where is that flight?

Before you book a flight, it is good to check if the airline you are considering using often delays flights, especially if you need to catch a connecting flight. It is also nice to be able to track a loved one's progress live on the map to see how close they are to home.

Where Should You Go Today?

If you're new to a place,  you obviously want to know where to go or what to see. There are guide books for this as well as numerous resources on the Internet. One resource that recently caught my eye was a website called Unanchor. This website sells suggested itineraries and also lets users rate the different itineraries. You can also download a free sample itinerary first to help you decide if you want to buy any. The duration of itineraries varies from one day to several days.

Where To Cash Travellers Cheques

If you have American Express travellers cheques and want to know where you can cash them in a particular city, then visit www.aetclocator.com. One frustration I have with this site is that they do not list all the places you can change American Express travellers cheques. For example, I found no listing of a money changer in Galerias Pacifico, that I know changes travellers cheques. Still, this site is very useful and you really should visit it even before booking your accommodation: you want to be sure you can get to a suitable money changer with as much ease as possible.

Your Own Private Jet

If you're like me, you don't have this kind of money. If you are not like me, then why not spoil yourself by hiring your own private jet to go on an expedition or to go island hopping. Have a look at TCS and Starquest Expeditions' website to see what they have to offer.

Your Own Tour Guide

Sometimes it is nice to be on your own. Perhaps you want to take your time or go see very specific places. If you are in a large group, you have to follow everyone else and do what they all do when you want to do it. If that sometimes drives you up the wall as it does me, especially being dragged from one temple to the next in the Far East, then a private guide might the answer.

One site that I have used before is Tours By Locals. Although they do have some great guides, their listing is not comprehensive. For example, one of the top guides in Rio de Janeiro, Manu Peclat was not listed there. I would therefore advise searching more broadly than just this site. Another website you could try is My Creative Tours.

I would also suggest visiting the official tourism websites of specific countries or cities to get a list of accredited tour operators and their contact details. Some of these tour operators offer private guided tours.
